Hawaii’s Fried Musubi Food Truck is a popular mobile cuisine known for their wide selection of flash-fried furikake encrusted musubis — An island favorite. The Fried Musubi truck draws crowds where people will stand in line 50+ deep happily waiting 30-45 minutes just to get one! And after trying their fried musubi it’s no wonder why…It was indeed delicious!
The Fried Musubi Food Truck is family owned and operated. Julia Vuong (“Mama”) combines her 30 plus years of culinary experience with her daughter’s (Sophia in photo) creativity. Together, they have created a delectable no frills menu that reflects their culinary beliefs, “Everything taste better fried!”
We caught up with the Fried Musubi Food Truck at the Eat the Street event in Honolulu Hawaii — The largest monthly street food rally where food trucks and vendors gather attracting an estimated 2000-3000+ people. The Fried Musubi Food Truck was clearly one of the most popular so we had to see for ourselves what the buzz was all about.
We tried a flash-fried furikake encrusted musubi with spicy ahi poke and Mama’s famous fried chicken wings. Both were exceptional.
The flash fried furikake encrusted musubi with spicy ahi poke was delicious. The fried musubi had a thin layer of furikake over the rice which gave a crisp outer layer of crunchiness. The inside had chunks of fresh ahi poke generously covered in a delicious and spicy sauce and topped with green onions.
Mama’s homemade fried chicken was a special treat. These were some of the best fried chicken wings we’ve had.
Mama’s wings were cooked to perfection with a lightly battered and golden browned crispy outer shell overlaying delectable bites of juicy chicken.
For incredible fried eats (including desserts such as fried Oreos, Twinkies, Red Velvet cupcakes and more), be sure to visit Hawaii’s Fried Musubi Food Truck where “Everything tastes better fried.” The flash fried furikake encrusted musubi with spicy ahi poke and chicken wings are a must try!
