We decided to return to the Bare Back Grill (for the third time) but this time to try the Kiwilango Burger and sweet potato fries (at the Pacific Beach location). We’ve been to Bare Back Grill in Pacific Beach and Bare Back Grill in the Gaslamp District once before (reviewing a different burger each time). Each time we’ve visited Bare Back Grill the burgers (and fries) have been excellent!

Bare Back Grill in Pacific Beach had a very fun and outgoing beach atmosphere with a sports bar vibe to it. Inside you’ll find daily specials written on chalkboards and flat screen TV’s throughout for watching sports. Bare Back Grill has been voted best burger in San Diego four years in a row and for good reason.

We ordered a Kiwilango Burger ($10.90), a Hogs and Heifers Burger ($10.90) and two small orders of sweet potato fries (2 @$4.00). Our total bill was $29.98.

The Kiwilango Burger came with a 100% organic beef burger, bleu cheese crumbles, fresh diced jalapenos, lettuce, tomato, red onion, hot sauce, aioli, BBG sauce, and topped with crushed tortilla chips. The jalapenos added a little kick to the burger and the tortilla chips added a nice light crunch. While different, this burger was loaded with a great variety of flavors that went very well together.

The Hogs and Heifers Burger came with a 100% organic beef burger, bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato, red onion, aioli, BBG sauce and your choice of cheese (we chose Swiss cheese). The burger was juicy, tasty and cooked to perfection. The Hogs and Heifers Burger is a play-it-safe choice on the menu but also one of our favorites.

The sweet potato fries were to die for! The sweet potato fries were flavorful, crisp on the outside, lightly salted and topped with delicious bleu cheese crumbles.

Once again we enjoyed our experience at the Bare Back Grill in Pacific Beach. While the burgers and fries were not cheap, it was worth it. Bare Back Grill gives good size portions so sharing a meal can be enough for two and can keep costs down. For delicious burgers and fries at a beach location with a fun sports-bar vibe, Bare Back Grill in Pacific Beach would be an excellent choice!
